Stephen King

This story is taught right around the Halloween season in conjunction with four pieces from Edgar Allan Poe in a brief "Horror Unit."  "The Mist," along with the Poe selections, is done using an audio tape.  This allows for us to compare the styles of King and Poe.  We conclude the unit with a review of the 5 paragraph essay and a review the elements needed for a strong thesis statement.  Below is a brief description of "The Mist."

"THE MIST" In this story, a strange mist overcomes a small town.  You will have to listen closely to see what happens to the people of this small town.  You will explore the different methods that King uses to play on peoples fears.  You will see what happens to these characters and how fear brings out the extremes in people.
